Understanding LaunchGood Verification: Account-Level vs. Fundraiser-Level Review

At LaunchGood, we believe every dollar donated is an amanah, a trust entrusted to us by our community. As part of our commitment to safeguarding donations and ensuring they reach their intended purpose, we review fundraisers to help ensure they meet our compliance and due diligence requirements.

These reviews help us maintain a safe and trusted platform while ensuring that funds are used appropriately and in accordance with applicable requirements.

When creating a fundraiser, there are two important parts to the review:

Account Level Verification: Who are you, and where will the funds be sent?

Fundraiser Level Verification: What are you raising funds for, and how will the funds be used?

Both types of verification work together to help us understand the people and organizations involved, the purpose of the fundraiser, and how donated funds will be used.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Step 1: Account Level Verification

Account Verification helps us confirm who you are and verify where the funds will be sent.

Depending on your fundraiser, you may be asked to provide:

  • A valid government issued ID or passport for the Fundraiser Organizer
  • A bank statement issued within the last 3 months
  • Organization registration documents, if applicable
  • A valid government issued ID or passport for the beneficiary, if applicable
  • Other information or documents needed to complete the verification

See the applicable Minimum Requirements for your fundraiser:

You can also review our Identification Document Standards to make sure your ID meets our requirements.

Step 2: Fundraiser Level Verification

Fundraiser Verification helps us understand what you are raising funds for and how the funds will be used.

Some types of fundraisers require additional documents to help us verify the purpose of the fundraiser and how the funds will be used.

For example:

  • Education: Student ID or school acceptance letter
  • Medical: Medical document or report issued by a hospital or clinic, or a hospital invoice or breakdown of fees
  • Rent Support: Rental agreement signed by both the landlord and tenant

See Supporting Documents for the full list of fundraiser types and their requirements.

When Does Verification Happen?

Verification may take place:

  • Before your fundraiser goes live
  • While your fundraiser is active
  • Before a payout is issued

Our Trust & Safety team may ask for additional information or documents at any stage. If we need anything from you, we’ll contact you by email.

If your fundraiser is still being reviewed, it simply means our team needs a little more time to understand the details of your fundraiser and make sure everything is in order.

Please check your email regularly and answer any questions as fully as possible. This helps us complete the process as quickly as possible.

How Can I Avoid Delays?

To help us complete your review as smoothly as possible:

  • Provide clear and accurate information in your fundraiser pitch
  • Make sure your documents are valid and readable
  • Provide all required documents for your type of fundraiser
  • Make sure the information across your ID, bank account, and fundraiser is consistent

The clearer and more complete your information is, the easier it is for our team to complete the review.
