How to start a fundraiser on LaunchGood

You’re here because something matters deeply to you.

Whether you’re raising funds for a loved one, supporting your community, or turning a heartfelt idea into reality—you don’t have to do it alone. LaunchGood is here to walk with you, step by step, inshaAllah.

Starting a fundraiser can feel overwhelming, especially if it’s your first time. But you’ve already taken the hardest step: showing up with intention. We’ll guide you through the rest.

Take your time. Explore what feels right:

And when you’re ready—bismillah, let’s begin.

1. Log in or create your account

Visit LaunchGood.com/login. If you’re new, click Sign up to create your account. It’s quick and easy.

2. Click “Start fundraising”

Go to LaunchGood.com/create, or just look for the Start fundraising button anywhere on the site.

You’ll be asked who you're fundraising for:

  • Myself or someone else
    • Choose this if the funds will go to a personal bank account.
  • My organization
    • Select this if you represent a charity, company, or nonprofit and want the funds to go directly to your organization’s bank account.
  • A charity or cause
    • Pick this if you'd like to support an existing charity already listed on LaunchGood.
    • (If the charity you're looking for isn’t listed, they may not have this option enabled. You can reach out to them directly.)

Once you've made your selection, click Next to continue.

3. Select your country

Choose the country where the bank account is registered.

If your country isn’t supported, you won’t be able to continue from here.

We know this can be frustrating, and we’re truly working to expand access. You can learn why some countries aren’t supported and what options might be available in the meantime.

4. Add your fundraiser details

This is where you begin shaping your fundraiser and sharing your story with the world. Every detail you add helps donors better understand your cause and feel more connected to the impact you’re working toward.

Here’s what you’ll be asked to include:

  • Goal amount
    • Set a goal that reflects what you truly need. You can always update it later if things change.
    • Tip: Most fundraisers on LaunchGood raise around $6,000 on average — but every cause is unique, and your goal should reflect yours.
  • Currency
    • Choose from USD, AUD, CAD, SGD, NZD, GBP, EUR, or MYR. This will be the currency your fundraiser is settled in. Other currencies aren’t currently supported.
  • Campaign Title
    • Keep it short, clear, and meaningful. Maximum 100 characters.

  • Feature image
    • Upload a main image that visually represents your fundraiser.
    • Recommended size is 1400x1050 pixels (4:3 ratio). Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, or GIF, up to 50MB.
    • If you're having trouble uploading, try resizing your image here.
  • Tagline
    • Write a short sentence that summarizes the purpose and impact of your fundraiser. Maximum 160 characters.
  • Category
    • Choose the category that best fits your cause. This helps donors find your fundraiser when browsing the Discover page.
  • Location
    • Share where the beneficiary or project is located. If you’re fundraising for yourself, use your current location.
  • End date
    • We recommend starting with a 30-day duration. You’ll have the flexibility to extend or adjust it later, depending on how things go.

5. Add an influencer (optional)

If you’re already working with an influencer who will be supporting your fundraiser, you can tag them here.

This step is optional and only applies if there’s an existing collaboration in place. LaunchGood does not facilitate partnerships directly.

If you’re an influencer or changemaker yourself, or want to learn how this feature works, you can learn more here.

6. Write your story

This section is the heart of your fundraiser. It’s where you invite people to understand your cause and feel moved to support it.

A compelling story includes:

  • Who you are
  • What you’re fundraising for
  • How much is needed and a breakdown of how the funds will be used
  • How the support will be delivered
  • Who will benefit and how

Be honest, specific, and heartfelt. Clear storytelling builds trust and helps donors feel connected to your mission.

7. Request zakat verification (optional)

If your fundraiser is intended to receive zakat, you can request verification during setup.

You’ll be asked to:

  • Select the appropriate zakat category
  • Describe how the funds will be spent in alignment with zakat guidelines

To learn more about our zakat process and eligibility, visit LaunchGood.com/zakatpolicy.

8. Enter payment information

This step connects your fundraiser to the bank account where funds will be received.

Once you reach this page, your fundraiser will automatically save—even if you don’t complete the form right away. You can also choose Skip for now and return later.

If you need help filling in your payment information, this guide can walk you through it.

9. Final review and submission

Before going live, you’ll be asked to review and agree to LaunchGood’s:

If your fundraiser is time-sensitive, you can request an urgent review.

Once everything is ready, submit your fundraiser for review—or publish it directly, depending on your setup.

Check out this article on how to submit your fundraiser for review.
